BMCR posted a list of books received, including some patristic titles. This caught my eye: Jerome of Stridon: His Life, Writings and Legacy, by Andrew Cain and Josef Lössl.

“Of Stridon”. Heh. Like anybody is going to confuse him with some other Jerome. Heh.
I had the same thought. I guess it’s not uncommon to say “Augustine of Hippo” or “Athanasius of Alexandria” or even “Origen of Alexandria.” But you’re right: this one’s just not done. He is sui generis. And it’s not like “Stridon” is going to clarify matters for 99.44% of the populace! Jerome didn’t bother putting it on the map. He high-tailed it out of there!
